"The Lord is my rock and my fortress." Psalm 18:2
(This is the audio version of my spoken word piece. I have a video, but it’s on my friend’s laptop, ha.)

“Amidst all the chaos, you can always find peace through Him. In times when you feel lonely, remember to always look up, God’s always there, ready to listen.”

I wake up every morning with my thoughts sinking through screams and mourning. I wake up dismayed, lost, knowing my heart is aching. I wake up, sadly I wake up. The agony of these phantom and seamless dreams I thought were my greatest fear until my eyes open and suddenly, the worst comes and I’m faced with reality. As I wake up and I pause momentarily, my heart races for these moments as I seek for an outlet. I need a place where I can place my mind openly without any judgment and false fallacy.
I need an outlet. Not these electrical fuses and triggers to power these screens for amusement. I need an outlet away from these spectators and reposition of numbers that fluctuate. I need an outlet, to let out the sorrows and pain not only I, but my brothers and sisters that are inflicted with each day. I need, someone, just one to listen. Not thousands to criticize or pity me as they see me broken. I need, this moment.
So through my feelings of agony and distraught each day, I take my time each morning to say, “Lord, my savior, I thank you for this light of day”, this is how I pray. He, has been my strength. He’s been my outlet willing to listen and stay. An outlet which brings not only power to my own vision, but amusement blessed in disguise through the heated sun rays.
So as I wake up, thankfully I wake up. I stand proud facing reality with hope, faith, and sincerity.
Through scriptures and written tablets. God was my only needed outlet.
One of the reasons why I greatly admire you Cyrus.
